Evenings are quieter still: the temple closes, the surrounding streets thin out, and dinner means going south into the centre. People move by taxi, by microbus, or, for the river, by the public ferry, a private boat or the bridge.

This area suits travellers who want comfort and pools, and who will trade a central location for a calmer base with the temple on the doorstep. It does not suit anyone who wants restaurants, shops and the corniche on foot outside the door. That traveller should look at East Bank instead, or at Al-Awameyah if they want to be south of the centre.
