Evenings are quiet: the ferry slows, the workshops close, and most eating places are in other West Bank settlements or across the river.

This area suits travellers who want to wake under the hills and do not mind crossing the river for meals and services. It does not suit those who want the centre on foot, late dinners or easy station access. For that, stay in Luxor city on the East Bank.

Within a short journey, you can reach Medinat Habu and the West Bank alabaster workshops. New Qurna is also nearby. The public ferry, private boats and the bridge connect you to the East Bank when you need it.

The West Bank is the quieter side and the sites sit far apart, so a day here usually starts early and runs on a bicycle, a driver or the public ferry.
